Goblins, also known as Gong Orcs, are a fictional sapient species seen in J.R.R. Tolkien's Works.

Description[]

The word "goblin" is, originally, a derogatory terms Hobbits use for Orcs. However, it has come to refer to a special breed of orcs, the results of the remains of the Dark Lord Morgoth's orc army hiding under the Misty Mountains in a cave called "Goblin-Town" after their lord's defeat. After centuries of living inside and inbreeding, Morgoth's orcs had become small and savage, and were ruled by a fat and cruel king called the Great Goblin, who was the largest and cleverest one among them.

Inspired[]

Tolkien's literary Goblins were the inspiration for the Goblin seen in the 1977 animated adaptation of The Hobbit.
